This is a wonderful miniature signed by Le Brun. It is a self portrait hand painted watercolor and gouache. You can see the brush strokes in the painting. Vigee Le Brun was known for her self portraits. This one, being signed by her, is a rare find indeed.
We did not examine it out of frame for fear of damaging the thin wafer it was painted on. The frame is not in the best condition (see pictures) but lends to the charm. It is an old frame.
