This is a RARE full color illuminated manuscript embellished with gold and silver by Jacob Cornelisz from The Small Passion. It is from a miniature book dated between 1520-1521. There were 64 woodcuts in The Small Passion each printed from one block. The reference book, The New Hollstein Dutch & Flemish, Jacob Cornelisz has the same depiction in black & white on page 181. There is a description of the manuscript page for you to view as well.
It is signed on the lower left Hand written text in brown and red ink on verso in French. The Virgin with glowing halo is in an architectural setting with the animals and the Christ Child in a manger. She is visited by the shepherds and an angel flies above the scene. Hinged to the mat, with loose tissue paper.

Condition: some darkening to the margins a few areas of bleed through, which was normal for that time. It is 500+ years old. It in preserved on an acid free mat with acid free foam board.
