Beautiful cloisonné hinged box. EXCEPTIONAL fine work. Stunning colors with a bird, trees, and flower motif on yellow ground. It is gold gilt, and some of the gold has a bit of wear on the interior and slight on the exterior. There are no defects that I noted while inspecting the enamel. This box dates back to the mid 1800's or possibly earlier. Mount Fuji with boats adorns the inside lid, and a small village the inside bottom. Please look over the pictures :). The box is approximately 2" tall x 3 5/8" wide x 3" deep. It is a wonderful example of cloisonné history. It was acquired from the Estate of Harry Hilbert, a prominent New Canaan, CT antiques dealer.
